Light….Dark. Day…Night. Happy…Sad. Positive…Negative. All of these stages are connected to each other, though on the opposite ends of their spectrums. Somewhere in there is the point of balance, though there are times when the scale lists to one end or the other for a brief time.
Social media is, at times, a mind-boggling experience on a daily basis. It’s a wonderful way to meet new and wonderful people, but it’s also a cesspool for the vitriol that seems to be fast becoming the norm, and beware the person who doesn’t agree with whatever opinion you voice. What is that about anyway?
What does that have to do with writing? It depends on how well your BS and Negativity filters work. Some days they will work just fine….and the dark cloud of uck floats on by. Other times, the onslaught is such that an umbrella, raincoat, and hip-waders can’t keep you dry. It’s on those latter days you may need to remove your self from fray, especially if you notice that your writing is being affected. It may affect the flow of your creative juices. It may affect the mood of your writing in a way you don’t want. It may act like logs of a dam and clog the flow of creativity all together.
Remove yourself. Find your center in whichever way works best for you. And if that means removing yourself from or limiting your time on social media for a little while, then do it. Rejuvenate yourself and find your balance, because no one can do it for you.
Until next week….Happy Reading!
