It’s finally done. Phoenix Rising is finished and with the publisher. Next time I read my story, it will be as a printed book. It’s still surreal to me. Once I have the book in my hands, it will become a solid reality.
There are only four more weeks before my debut at TNEE in Atlanta. I’m still working on swag, making sure I have everything I’m going to need. And I’m probably kidding myself. This is a first for me. I only have a general idea of what’s going to happen and what I’m going to need, much less take with me.
I watch the posts on all the related groups and I am scheduling a few events here and there, but I’m trying hard not to dwell too much on any of it. If I allow myself to think too much, I’ll be way more nervous than I am already. And let me tell you, I’m nervous enough.
I’m forcing myself to leave Book 2 on the shelf for now. I learned so much more going through the final editing of Phoenix Rising. I want nothing more than to apply this knowledge to my second book, even it means rewriting the whole thing. (Though I’m hoping it won’t come to that.) But I’m making myself wait until I come back from Atlanta. I want to be able to sit down and focus solely on that book.
Of course, I’ll have to spend a lot of time promoting Phoenix Rising once it’s been released. I’ll need sales to warrant publishing the next book. That’s how it works, right?
Till next week,
~ Madison
